Most JDM enthusiasts lust over the R34 GTR. The cold hard fact is right now they’re at ~$100k+ for just a decent, non-special edition one. This is without the US market being a legitimate factor. For a fraction of the cost, you can have the bulk of the look and performance with this 1991 R32 GTR. It even comes with the R34 GTR’s wheels and matching cherry red engine covers. All of this painted in the R34’s Bayside Blue that attracts many people to these cars in the first place. This car was also somebody’s daily driver in Japan. It has ~153k miles on the clock, and some elements of the interior will reflect this. The exterior on the other hand is exceptional. The car does run and drive well, given the mileage. Not odd noises, rattles, or grinds. Like most GTR’s, it doesn’t have A/C. Some things you just come to expect with these cars… This car ain’t perfect, it’s an old Nissan after all, but there isn’t a better way to have a car that replicates the R34 GTR so closely for under $40k. Think of it this way, You’re getting about 75% of the R34 for about 40% of the cost, if that helps. If a true R34 is your thing, we’ll see you in 2024. Bring $150k just to be safe.

R32 Information:

Entering production in August 1989, the R32 Skyline GT-R was revolutionary in it’s class. It was nicknamed “Godzilla” in Australia due to it’s ability to outperform the V8 muscle cars that were popular during the time. With a 276hp 2.6L twin-turbo inline 6 and all-wheel drive, it could dominate on the drag strip or road course. The motor was matched to a 5 speed Getrag manual with a final drive ratio of 4.111. Also available was a 4 wheel steering system, helping the GT-R utilize all of it’s available grip. With a plethora of aftermarket parts and tuning it’s possible to push 1000hp from the GT-R.
