This Soarer is an absolute dream to drive. Comfortable and relatively modern interior is supremely quiet, and and the power from the 1JZ-GTE coupled with it’s quiet-as-a-mouse note makes for an extremely capable daily driver. Clutch engages at the top of the pedal, and transmission has the sort of robust shift feel of a unit that can handle a well-tuned twin turbo inline-6, should the owner choose to modify it! Car is basically stock as it comes, with a fresh coat of paint to make it a real head turner. Odometer will occasionally flicker whilst driving, but besides that no real flaws with this car. Not to mention only 37,000 miles on the clock!

Starting in mid-1991, Toyota released the new Soarer (Z30), offering the same general powertrain options as the A70 Supra. The JZZ30 was outfitted with Toyota’s twin-turbo 1JZ-GTE, with the JZZ31 using the 2JZ-GE, and the UZZ30 and UZZ31 stuffing the 4.0L 1UZ-FE V8 inside. Toyota paired the 1JZ-GTE motor with a 5-speed manual transmission and Torsen differential, and is often seen as the “sporting” model, with lots of potential tuning and upgrades available. It was one of the first cars to have a GPS navigation system via CD-ROM as an option. The Soarer even saw use in various Japanese prefectures as a high-speed patrol car!
